The limestone geology of New Ireland has resulted in many flooded caves and there is great potential for small groups of qualified cave divers to explore the region. Scuba Ventures have worked with local landowners to identify a number of potential cave diving sites. Two of which are close to Kavieng and available to be dived by the suitably experience. Both caves feature fantastic formations of stalagmites and stalactites.
